Moonlight helps you see your money clearly. To do that we collect, process, and store the financial data you choose to connect or upload. This policy explains what we gather, how we use it, and the control you have over it, in plain language.

What we collect

When you connect a bank through Plaid or upload a statement, we receive your account balances, transactions, and account details so we can show you your spending and net worth. We also store your email address and basic profile information for your account. We never receive or store your bank login credentials. Those are handled directly by Plaid.

How we use it

We use your financial data only to power the features you ask for: tracking balances, categorizing transactions, budgeting, and surfacing insights. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How we protect it

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is scoped to your account, and our systems are built so that one user can never read another user's data. We follow least-privilege practices internally and rely on Plaid for secure, read-only bank connectivity.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted processors to run Moonlight: Plaid for bank connectivity, our managed PostgreSQL database host for storage, and AI providers that help categorize and summarize transactions. These providers process data only on our instructions.

Your choices

You can disconnect a linked institution, delete individual accounts or statements, or delete your entire account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your financial data from our systems.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and, where appropriate, ask for your consent again.
